Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: A Script Review

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: A Script Review

It’s taken me a week to fully process my thoughts about Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. And when I say “fully process,” I really mean, “I partially have a grasp over the mess of emotions I’ve been feeling.” But it’s been a week, so I just have to write down my convoluted thoughts before I lose them completely. At this point, I think it’s fair to tell you that I’m going to try my hardest not to use spoilers. I think it’ll be hard, though. But when I do use them, I’ll always mark them, leaving you the choice whether or not you […]

The Rest of Us Just Live Here: A Book Review

The Rest of Us Just Live Here: A Book Review

Let’s start with this statement: My favorite books are the ones that intrigue me, that provoke me to think long after I’ve read them, that make me start talking about it to my roommate who doesn’t really care but I just talk at her anyway. And this book did that for me. In a really interesting way. So let’s discuss, shall we? The focus of this book is on the teens who are in the backstory of what we usually read in YA books. There’s the crazy, unique, paranormal story happening—but that’s not really what’s important. The main characters are just a group […]

Uprooted by Naomi Novik: A Book Review

Uprooted by Naomi Novik: A Book Review

Uprooted by Naomi Novik is going to go down as one of those all-time best fantasy/fairytale books. It’s beautiful and so unique and just feels like home, you know? Anyway, let’s talk about it. This book received a ton of hype when it came out last year. So. Much. Hype. So much so that I listened and ordered the UK version because the cover was so beautiful. Just look at it up there! You can’t tell, but the gold actually shines. I mean, the US version is also super beautiful, look: Cool, huh? The cover are both pretty different, but they’re both really unique and intricate and […]

Wolf by Wolf: A Book Review

Wolf by Wolf: A Book Review

Review: Wow wow wow. I loved this book. I read this along with some of my other bookish friends through Mariam’s read-a-long on her blog, Flying Through Fiction. And I’m so glad I did. This book was intriguing, thought-provoking, exciting, intense, unique, and complex. I’ve never read anything like it before–mostly because I’ve never read any “alternate history” type books, but I do enjoy historical fiction every once and awhile, and I guess this can be classified as that, too. If you didn’t read the summary above, let me just sum it up for you in a few words. The Axis Powers won World […]

That Time When I Fell in Love With Emery Lord’s “The Start of Me and You”: A Book Review

That Time When I Fell in Love With Emery Lord’s “The Start of Me and You”: A Book Review

Guys. So this book was wonderful and magical and I don’t think I’ve related to a main character on a such a deep level for a long time…if at all. So let’s just talk about it. Reasons Paige and I are actually the same exact person She lives in Indiana and I was born in Indiana and went to high school in Indiana. HOOSIERS, BABY. She’s a grammar nerd and I’m an Editing minor. GRAMMAR IS A HUGE PART OF MY LIFE. She’s super awkward and overthinks around boys, aka me. Case in point: “‘Hey.’ My voice sounded breathy, like I […]

Cress: A Re-read Review

Cress: A Re-read Review

Re-read reviews are always really hard for me because I don’t know what to say. So, I’m just going to list the three main reasons why I love Cress so much and why it was my favorite Lunar Chronicles book (before I read Winter): The addition of the Rapunzel story.  Rapunzel has always been a favorite of mine. Tangled will forever be one of my favorite movies because she’s just wonderful. Literally, in my sophomore Speech Class in high school, we had to do a “campaign” speech, and I ran to be the next Rapunzel. No joke. So I love that Meyer added Rapunzel into […]
