Bah Bah Black Sheep: The Star-Touched Queen

Bah Bah Black Sheep: The Star-Touched Queen

I am always a fan of reading about unique cultures and mythologies. Especially when they’re interwoven with a great story and great writing. The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokski promised all of that. And it received major hype from practically all the bloggers and reviewers out there. People were raving. So I was expecting to love it, and I was ecstatic to see that I got accepted for a review copy. However, this book didn’t work for me. But I’m a fair person; I try to be a good reviewer. So I’m going to attempt to explain my dislike of it. But before I delve into the […]

The Girl from Everywhere: A Book Review

The Girl from Everywhere: A Book Review

This is a book that I was so, so excited about. The premise sounded awesome, and I’ve heard high praise from my blogging friends. And it didn’t disappoint! I enjoyed it a lot. I liked the main character Nix. I liked the unique, historical Hawaiian setting. I liked the time travel and how they time traveled. I liked the fairytale-ish, fantasy aspects. I love the father-daughter relationship that YA is seriously lacking. One thing that wasn’t my favorite was the love triangle…But let’s just talk about these things, alright? Nix is awesome. She’s a strong girl who’s trying to fend for herself. I think she has a […]

Where I Gush About Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: A New All-Time Favorite

Where I Gush About Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: A New All-Time Favorite

GUYS GUYS GUYS. This book has been so hyped. So. Incredibly. Hyped. People have been freaking out about Truthwitch since they got early copies at BEA in May. So for a solid seven, eight months. And since I heard about it, I’ve been vying for a copy. Being the little baby blogger that I was, I knew I couldn’t get the ARC from Tor, so I entered a lot of giveaways. Re-tweeted a lot of tweets. All the while crossing my fingers that the Giveaway Gods would smile upon me and I would win. Spoiler alert, I never did. So I kind of resigned myself to […]

Cress: A Re-read Review

Cress: A Re-read Review

Re-read reviews are always really hard for me because I don’t know what to say. So, I’m just going to list the three main reasons why I love Cress so much and why it was my favorite Lunar Chronicles book (before I read Winter): The addition of the Rapunzel story.  Rapunzel has always been a favorite of mine. Tangled will forever be one of my favorite movies because she’s just wonderful. Literally, in my sophomore Speech Class in high school, we had to do a “campaign” speech, and I ran to be the next Rapunzel. No joke. So I love that Meyer added Rapunzel into […]

Queen of Shadows: A Book Review

Queen of Shadows: A Book Review

Okay. Queen of Shadows. I finally finished this beast of a book…because it’s a beast. At 648 pages, it’s my longest read of the year so far. And with school starting literally the day before it came out, it’s taken me almost two weeks to read this one. I have read a couple of books within that time period, but still. Twelve days is forever long for me to be reading one book. Seriously, forever long. BUT I FINISHED. Like an hour ago, so everything is fresh and raw in my brain. Which might mean that this review will be a […]

Heir of Fire: A Book Review

Heir of Fire: A Book Review

Yay, I have finally finished this book. I’ve been binge-reading the entire series this past month hoping to finish before Queen of Shadows came out. Which it did yesterday. And I finished Heir of Fire yesterday. So, yes, there was some overlap, but not that much! Not going to lie. This book is probably my least favorite out of the previous two and the novella bind-up. The Assassin’s Blade still holds the #1 place in my heart. BUT that’s not saying this book wasn’t amazing. Because this book was still totally amazing and holds a strong four star rating in my books. Let’s […]
