The Secret Diary of Lydia Bennet: A Mini ARC Review

The Secret Diary of Lydia Bennet: A Mini ARC Review

When I first heard of this book, I wasn’t so sure. The cover definitely isn’t the best thing, and it sounds like a copycat of The Secret Diary of Lydia Bennet from the Youtube Lizzie Bennet Diaries series. But it’s really not. And I’m glad that I read it. It was a pleasant surprise that I really enjoyed. BTW: I’ve seen a better alternate cover and a different title: The Wild Girl of Pride and Prejudice. So I’m not sure which one came first. But here’s the other cover that’s on Goodreads: Definitely that’s better than the one on my copy though. […]

Unscripted Joss Byrd: An ARC Review

Unscripted Joss Byrd: An ARC Review

I received the ARC of Unscripted Joss Byrd through the ARC Adoption program that Emma from Miss Print has set up. I think this is my second or third ARC I’ve received from her, and I have another that I have to read! It’s a great program for those that don’t get sent many physical ARCs from publishers. She sends them with the guarantee of a review from you within a month of publication. Anyway, let’s get started, shall we? This book is about Joss, a teenage movie star, and it follows her filming an indie movie in, I think, Florida. What was cool […]

The Memory of Light: A Book Review

The Memory of Light: A Book Review

First, I wanted to thank Emma from Miss Print for providing me with this ARC through her ARC Adoption program. This is my third ARC that I’ve received from her for this, so it’s a really great system. You just pay for shipping and then review it within the month of its publication. Wa-la! Go check it out, I implore you. So now let’s talk about this book. When I saw it was available on Emma’s web site, I immediately tweeted her about it. This past semester in my YA lit class, we read Marcelo in the Real World by Fransisco X. Stork […]

Where I Gush About Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: A New All-Time Favorite

Where I Gush About Truthwitch by Susan Dennard: A New All-Time Favorite

GUYS GUYS GUYS. This book has been so hyped. So. Incredibly. Hyped. People have been freaking out about Truthwitch since they got early copies at BEA in May. So for a solid seven, eight months. And since I heard about it, I’ve been vying for a copy. Being the little baby blogger that I was, I knew I couldn’t get the ARC from Tor, so I entered a lot of giveaways. Re-tweeted a lot of tweets. All the while crossing my fingers that the Giveaway Gods would smile upon me and I would win. Spoiler alert, I never did. So I kind of resigned myself to […]

Dumplin’ | A Book Review

Dumplin’ | A Book Review

Dumplin’ is a book that has received all the hype and all the love among book bloggers. And when I say “all the hype,” I mean it. Like people were doing the “Dumplin’ pose” and posting pictures (aka the pose on the cover), people were tweeting about it, people were blogging about it. It was just all over because apparently it was just that good. So when I saw the opportunity to get my hands on a copy of the ARC from a fellow blogger, I grasped it eagerly. And I wasn’t disappointed.

A Little in Love: A Book Review

A Little in Love: A Book Review

If you know anything about me, know that I love Les Mis. It’s one of my all-time favorite books and all-time favorite movies. Also it introduced me to Eddie Redmayne, whom I love dearly. But Eddie is neither here nor there, it’s Les Mis that I’m talking about now. It’s just so beautiful and has these really deep and powerful messages and symbolism. About forgiveness. Justice versus mercy. God. Redemption. What it means to be a good person. It’s just beautiful. So when I saw that there was a Les Mis retelling coming out at the end of August, I got […]
