Current Obsession: Criminal Minds

Current Obsession: Criminal Minds

My latest obsessions: Criminal Minds. Seriously, I just finished the first season and I started…like a week and a half ago? Is there a way to see the date you watched an episode? I don’t know. Okay, anyways, moving on. I remember my best friend’s parents in high school used to always be watching this show and I thought they were crazy. Who would want to get in the mind of psychopaths? Like, seriously… So I never thought the day would come when I would see it on my Netflix queue and I would click Play. But, alas, I didn’t have another show […]

Happy Birthday (To Me)!

Happy Birthday (To Me)!

Hello all my lovely readers. Seriously,  you’re lovely. Anyways, I have exciting news. I don’t know how exciting it is for you, but it’s pretty exciting for me… Drumroll, please! *badabadabadabadabadabada* (FYI, that’s a drumroll sound). IT’S MY BIRTHDAY. Yes, blogosphere. Today Carlisa turns twenty. You heard me right: The big 2-0. Which doesn’t change many things in my life except that I’m now able to say “I’m 20,” rather than “I’m 19.” It sounds like a big difference to me, no? But since I’m now 20 (*smiling because I can now say that*), I figured I would post 20 random […]

My Thoughts Re-Watching Parks & Rec

My Thoughts Re-Watching Parks & Rec

I love, love, love Parks and Rec. It’s probably my favorite show ever. And it gives me a reason to feel cool when I say that I’m from Indiana (and, no, unfortunately Pawnee is not a real city). The series just ended a month or two ago (*tear*) so I decided to start from the beginning and rewatch the episodes. The first season is hilarious and I love the characters so much. I think that’s my favorite part of the show…that I love every character even though they’re all so different. They just work together. Anyways, here are my thoughts as I watched […]

What I Did this Week to Procrastinate Studying

What I Did this Week to Procrastinate Studying

I have always loved Jane Austen. Like I know a lot – and by “a lot” I mean practically any girl with a heart – will tell you that she loves Pride and Prejudice. I mean, seriously, who can resist Mr. Darcy, whether he’s Colin Firth or Matthew Macfayden (let’s not get start this debate over who’s better…)? I mean, come on…“You have bewitched me body and soul and I love…love…love you.” What is this sorcery that makes my heart melt and my insides feel warm and fuzzy? It’s Jane Austen. She has this timeless power and I love it. Pride and Prejudice is […]

The Beauty of the Individual

The Beauty of the Individual

Lessons that I’ve learned since the start of Fall Semester: Netflix is the root of all procrastination. Also, Netflix likes to add so many new shows and seasons right before Midterm week. So. Many. I don’t know where Gilmore Girls has been all my life. No matter how many times I’ll start a blog post, I won’t actually finish it until I’m in my least favorite class (cough *British Literary History* cough). This is a lesson I’m learning right at this moment. Classes are much more interesting once you get past the GE’s and into your major/minor. Paydays are the best days. Also, […]

#showmeyourpump

#showmeyourpump

Recently, there has been an amazing campaign – #showmeyourpump – launched on twitter by Miss Idaho, a type one diabetic who wasn’t afraid to wear her pump on live national television in a bikini. That takes courage and I forever admire her for that. In response to that campaign, I thought I’d write a blog post about my very recent experiences with my new insulin pump. Let me now show you my pump: In May of this year, I went and saw my endocrinologist (a fancy word for my diabetes doctor) for a check-up and some anxiety-producing blood tests. I had been talking […]
