A Shadow Bright and Burning: an ARC Review

A Shadow Bright and Burning: an ARC Review

I was so excited to receive the ARC of A Shadow Bright and Burning in the mail. I’d heard such good things and the cover was beautiful and the plot sounded so unique. I wasn’t disappointed. I really liked it. So let’s talk about it, shall we? My Review First, I loved the main character, Henrietta Howel. She had this strong,  fiery (lol) personality. (Sidenote: Why is “fiery” spelled differently than “fire”??? Okay, anyway). I just really liked her. I felt she was really believable and honest. She kind of has it rough. She starts out as kind of a governess at this strict school, and there are […]

Books I’m Hoping to “Fall” Into In 2016

Books I’m Hoping to “Fall” Into In 2016

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Fall TBR (to-be-read) Books…If you couldn’t tell from my creative but also kind of vague title. So I’m just going to jump into it! Here are ten books that I’m hoping to read this fall!      Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas Pub. Date: September 6, 2016 I know, I know. I still haven’t read this one and it’s been out like two weeks. Last year, I was all about that QOS life, but it’s been kind of busy with school + internship + job + friends + staying alive. You know what I […]

Interview with Becky Wallace and Giveaway!

Interview with Becky Wallace and Giveaway!

About a year or so ago, I won a Twitter contest from Becky Wallace, an author I’d heard of and whose books I wanted to read eventually. She sent me a signed copy of her first book with some swag, and I was so excited! It was my first time winning a Twitter giveaway and I was still a young blogger and hadn’t interacted with a lot of authors, so I was just mostly in shock. And then on the postcard she included, she said that she used to live on the same street that I was living on at the […]

Bookish Twitter: #CheeseBooks

Bookish Twitter: #CheeseBooks

I don’t know how many of you know this, but I used to live in Wisconsin. Aka the land of cows and dairy and cheese. Literally, we all willingly and enthusiastically call ourselves cheeseheads. We wear cheese hats and cheese ties, and (I kid you not) I’ve seen a cheese bikini (all fake cheese, but still). We are quite cheesy. So when I saw #CheeseBooks trending on Twitter, my heart melted into a little puddle of cheesy fondue. So let’s showcase some of my favorites, shall we?   The Princess Brie #cheesebooks — Michael Pryor (@michaeljpryor) September 16, 2016 A Brienkle in […]

Top Ten Best Historical Fiction Novels

Top Ten Best Historical Fiction Novels

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is “Top Ten All-Time Favorite Books of X Genre.” Aka I had to pick a genre that I had ten all-time favorite books in. And it’s hard! Just tell me what to do, and I’ll do it…but give me options, and I’m a lost cause. I’d like to think of myself as a pretty eclectic reader; I read from and enjoy a lot of different genres. And that’s awesome! At least I think so. So anyway, this topic was hard, so I decided to scroll through my Goodreads favorite shelves…and I realized something: Only 5 of the […]

On My Nightstand: September 2016

On My Nightstand: September 2016

Hello, hello, hello. It’s September…….I was trying to think of a good September pun, but I couldn’t think of one. Bugger. Anyways! I’m back in school, which means more books to add to my “For Class” section. I do consider myself a pretty classy person, so it works. Eh? Eh? No? Oh, okay. #awkward Let’s just talk about books, okay? I can do without being weird. (Lol, right *sarcastic side-eye to myself*) ALL OF MY REVIEW BOOKS ARE SO OLD. I’ve been very good about not requesting new ones because I hardcore need to catch up on my older ones. The Starlit […]
