On My Nightstand in February 2017

Posted February 3, 2017 by Carlisa in Monthly TBR / 4 Comments

Yaaay for February, a new month! This TBR list is probably (definitely) a little ambitious, but who knows? I do have one Monday off school, so anything can happen. I really enjoy making these monthly TBRs, and I want to know what you’re planning to read! And if you posted a TBR for the month, link me in the comments, and I’ll hit it up!

Goodbye Days by Jeff Zentner
The List by Patricia Forde
Maud by Melanie J. Fishbane
Gilded Cage by Vic James

I’m excited about all of these books, so hopefully I can get through these this month! Goodbye Days is going to be great…because it’s Jeff Zentner, and I woudn’t expect otherwise. The List sounds like a wonderful Middle-grade. Maud is about L. M. Montgomery—the author of Anne of Green Gables—when she was a teen…and I love Anne, so I’m hoping to love this one! And then I’ve heard good things about Gilded Cage. To be honest, I put the UK cover here, because it is so much better than the US version, which is a little cringey to me.

The Odes of HoraceTranslated by David Ferry
The School of Good and Evil by Soman Chaiani

I’m in a Classics class, where we’re focusing on the modern reception of the classic Latin poet Horace. We have to read forty of his poems in this edition, as well as in another translation. I’ve already read them all at this point, but we’ll be reading, and re-reading, and re-reading them throughout the semester. And then I’m also in a Children’s publishing class, and we have to read so many Middle Grade novels. The School of Good and Evil is one I just got from the library, and I am very excited about it! I’ve heard such amazing things about it.

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman
Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel
Windwitch by Susan Dennard

This is a dang good-looking bunch, isn’t it? I’m currently reading both Neverwhere and Sleeping Giants, two books I’ve heard people rave about. I’m not super far in either, but I’m hoping to maybe finish both this weekend (pray for me). And Windwitch because it’s Windwitch. ‘Nough said.

What books are you reading this month? Have you read any of the books on my list? Let me know in the comments!

  • I’m also hoping to read Goodbye Days this month, so hopefully we both love it–it sounds amazing 🙂 Awesome TBR!

I listened to the audio book version of Neverwhere a few years ago and loved it! Neil Gaiman was also the narrator, which made it even better. I don’t know if you’ve read his book The Ocean at the End of the Lane, but if you haven’t then you definitely should! I think it’s my favorite Neil Gaiman book.

  • Good luck with all the reading you’ve got planned! I have Maud on my TBR too, and I’m really excited because I really love Anne of Green Gables and so have a very vested interest in reading a story inspired by the author.

You have some great books on your TBR for February! I can’t wait for the Goodbye Days, Jeff Zentner is amazing and I really enjoyed his debut! I’ll admit that I’ve owned The School for Good and Evil for a while now but haven’t had the chance to pick it up, but it looks fantastic!
