Books I’m Hoping to “Fall” Into In 2016

Posted September 27, 2016 by Carlisa in Top Ten Tuesday / 9 Comments

Today’s Top Ten Tuesday prompt is Fall TBR (to-be-read) Books…If you couldn’t tell from my creative but also kind of vague title. So I’m just going to jump into it! Here are ten books that I’m hoping to read this fall!

empire of storms kingdom-of-ash-and-briar bright smoke, cold fire replica small great things

Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas

Pub. Date: September 6, 2016

I know, I know. I still haven’t read this one and it’s been out like two weeks. Last year, I was all about that QOS life, but it’s been kind of busy with school + internship + job + friends + staying alive. You know what I mean? BUT I have it on hold at the library (I’m like #123920183 in line), so I’ll read it when it comes in for me!

Kingdom of Ash and Briars by Hannah West

Pub. Date: September 15, 2016

So, I know! This one is already out too. But it seems like a really fun, magical fairy tale that I would love. So I’m hoping to read this one!

Bright Smoke, Cold Fire by Rosamund Hodge

Pub. Date: September 27, 2016

I’ve seen some mixed reviews for this, and I’ve had mixed feelings about Hodge’s other books (aka I super loved Cruel Beauty but super didn’t love Crimson Bound)…so I’m going to go into this book hesitantly…BUT I’m still excited. It’s a Romeo and Juliet retelling, and I’m excited for the fresh take.

Replica by Lauren Oliver

Pub. Date: October 4, 2016

I’m a big Lauren Oliver fan—mostly because she never fails to surprise me. She’s a very eclectic writer, with everything from contemporary to dystopian to romance to thriller to this. It’s a flip-book? I don’t know how else to describe it, but you read one side of the story and then you literally flip over the book to read the second side. THERE ARE LITERALLY TWO SIDES TO THIS STORY. I think that’s so cool and unique and innovative, and I’m excited to read it!

Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult

Pub. Date: October 10, 2016

I actually have zero idea of what this book is even about, but it’s Jodi Picoult, and I’ve read almost all of her 1293028109 books, so this one is necessary for my TBR.

blood for blood the-sun-is-also-a-star heartless all in pieces fantastic-beasts

Blood for Blood by Ryan Graudin

Pub. Date: November 1, 2016

I read Wolf by Wolf a few months ago, and I loved it. I think alternate history stories are so unique and thought provoking. It really makes you think about history in a new way. So a post-WWII story where the Axis powers won…Paired with a sci-fi element…How could you not be intrigued? And then I actually won a contest with Ryan Graudin, the author, and she sent me an ARC of Blood for Blood! So it’s currently sitting on my shelf waiting for me to read, and I’m hoping to get to it soon.

The Sun Is Also A Star by Nicola Yoon

Pub. Date: November 1, 2016

Nicola Yoon was kind of the rising star of YA publishing last year. She released her debut Everything, Everythingand it was an immediate hit and is now already in the process of becoming a movie. Like they’re filming right now. Pretty cool, huh? I don’t actually know much about what this book is going to be about, but I do know that I’m going to read it as soon as it comes out. And probably go to her signing when she comes nearby for tour.

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Pub. Date: November 8, 2016

This one is a pretty obvious one. I love the Lunar Chronicles, so I’m really excited to see how Meyer takes on this retelling in a completely new way.

All in Pieces by Suzanne Young

Pub. Date: November 8, 2016

SO MANY BOOKS ARE BEING PUBLISHED IN NOVEMBER. Anyway, I am a huge fan of Suzanne Young’s The Program series. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Young is queen of the twist-your-mind-and-make-you-question-everything-you’ve-ever-believed moments. And it’s the best ever. This book is probably going to be a little different, but I’m excited to read it nevertheless.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them by J. K. Rowling

Pub. Date: November 20, 2016

I know that the Cursed Child screenplay was a huge deal and a lot of people were disappointed with it, but I’m still going to read this screenplay and probably love every minute. I’ll definitely watch the movie first (because Eddie Redmayne), but I think it’s going to be really interesting to read the screenplay for the movie after the fact. I’ll probably pick up on things I didn’t notice while watching the movie, and I think it’s going to be a fun ride.

Which books are on your Fall TBR? Have you read any of the books on my list? Let me know what you think in the comments! And link me to your TTT!

The Sun Is Also A Star, also made my list! I can’t wait to get my hands on a copy! 😀 My Top Ten Tuesday!

  • Great list! I’m so excited for Heartless and really curious about Blood for Blood! I have yet to read Gaudin’s Wolf by Wolf; I need to move it up on my TBR! The Sun is Also a Star is looking good too! Happy reading and happy Tuesday! 😀

  • MeezCarrie

The Sun Is Also a Star is FANTASTIC! I liked it even more than Everything Everything 🙂 My TTT

  • I forgot to add Yoon’s book to my TBR when I’m actually really looking forward to reading it hehe 😀 Happy reading!

  • Jo Elliott

Empire of Storms was on my list this week too!
    My TTT:

  • Heartless is definitely on my fall TBR too! I also need to catch up with the Throne of Glass series. The hype around EOS has motivated me to finally read Heir of Fire (which I really enjoyed) so I just have to get my hands on Queen of Shadows before I tackle EOS.
I totally did not know that Suzanne Young is publishing another series. I enjoyed The Program, so I cannot believe that this book missed my radar. I will have to fix that immediately.
