On My Nightstand in August 2016

TBR

I’ve officially deemed this month “Read ALL the books before school starts on August 29 and I die because I have no time for personal reading anymore” month. To keep it short, I’ll just call it RATBBSSOA29AIDBIHNTFPRA month. Lol, I just tried to say that out loud. I’m just joking. I mean, I hope I’ll be able to read all the books that I have sitting on my TBR because there are so many books, but it’ll probably just be a normal reading month for me…So let’s start, shall we?

TBR for kicks

I’ve been working on The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken for a few weeks now. I just can’t get into it. I’ve heard such great things…but I don’t know. I’m going to keep trying though! And I’ve been re-reading the Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, but that’s been a slow-go for me, too. That book is beautiful, but it’s definitely deep. I’ll pick up my copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child today after work, and I am simultaneously excited and terrified. What if it doesn’t live up to expectation? What if it’s terrible? But what if I love it? The possibilities are endless! The rest of these are library check outs, and I’m excited to read them!

TBR for class

Putting this category up here because it makes me feel good to leave it blank. And this is the last month that I’ll be able to do that because school starts on the 29th and then I’ll have to read all the school books. But that’s okay. I’m taking a Frankenstein class, so that should be pretty fun.

TBR for review

My “For Review” section is always just me listing the same books over and over again that I haven’t yet gotten to. But nevertheless, I’m going to list the ones I hope to get to this month. Though I’m not going to officially participate in ARC August (I always fail), I’m still hoping to make a dent in my ARC pile (which doesn’t actually exist because they’re all on my e-reader).

What books are you planning to read this month? Have you read any of the books on my list? Let me know what you thought of them in the comments!

  • LOL Carlisa. I seriously dig the short name. I’m hoping to read The Cursed Child too and maybe break into my copy of The Darkest Mind. However, since I’ll be participating in ARC August, I’m going to try to read as many ARCs as I can. 😉

  • A Frankenstein class?! How fun!! I’m so jealous! LOL @ your review comment. “listing the same books over and over…” I look forward to seeing your thoughts on the books you read this month (:

  • That’s so awesome that you’re taking a Frankenstein class! Frankenstein is one of my all time favorite classics. It’s just so awesome. I really hope you enjoy Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It sounds amazing though I haven’t purchased a copy of it yet.

  • Oh man, I hope I get around to reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child soon, but my reading schedule is kicking my butt. I hope you enjoy Never Never, I’ve heard amazing things about it! Lovely post ^_^

  • Haha, my “pile” doesn’t really exist either. Well, I have one print ARC, but everything else it digital. It doesn’t take up any space. 😀 Paper Girls looks like a pretty good graphic novels. I’ve been intrigued by that one lately. The Darkest Minds is great! I remember it being an exciting read. Good luck with all the reading before school starts!
