This past Tuesday, the Top Ten Tuesday prompt was just a Thanksgiving Freebie. And I had every intention of writing a post about ten books that I’m grateful for. I even listed out seven of them during my Grammar class
when I should’ve been paying attention. But then Monday night rolled around, and I was already lying in my bed when I remembered that I had yet to write the post. And I already hadn’t written a TTT since the 3rd, so why break my streak now? Just kidding, but no. I’m not kidding.
Anyway, but I have so much more than just books to be thankful for, you know? I am incredibly blessed to be who I am and where I am with the opportunities that I have. And it’s Thanksgiving. It’s time to be grateful. So, even though I know writing a blog post doesn’t do nearly as much justice as actually expressing gratitude in person…this is a start. So on my little corner of the internet, here are some things that I am thankful for in my life.
Books, books, books.
Since I’ve already been thinking about this for my (failed) TTT post, I thought I’d list some of these first. The books that I had come up with that have impacted me in some way and that I love forever and am grateful for are (drum roll please): Pride and Prejudice, The Book Thief, Ella Enchanted, Harry Potter (duh), Fangirl, The Truth About Forever, and Les Miserables. For various reasons as these are some very different books. These books have made an impact on who I am. Whether by growing my love of reading as a child or by helping me get through hard times. Books are powerful. They’ve always been a huge part of my life and they’re a huge part of who I am today. I am immensely grateful for them.
My family is awesome, a fact that I’ve come to appreciate more throughout the years. We’re all kind of weird in our own way and then sometimes weird in the same way. And we’re all different and have different opinions…but we still love each other. We support each other. We pick each other up when we’re down. That’s what family does. And that’s what makes it so great.
Speaking of, look how cute my siblings and I are at my brother’s wedding earlier this month:
Friends are wonderful. They, like families, can be there to pick you up when you’re down or just provide an ear when you have a lot to say. Know that whether you’re from high school, from here at college, from the blog-o-sphere, from anywhere…I appreciate you greatly. Good friendships are things that I hold very dear to my heart. And even though that sounds super cheesy, it’s 100% true.
Blogging…or Writing in General
Writing is my best outlet. I can express myself in words in a way I can’t speaking or in any other medium. In my AP English class senior year, we had to write about our “greatest treasure” *cue Awwwww from audience.* I wrote about writing. When I was younger, I dreamed of becoming a best-selling author. And while that dream has somewhat changed, I know that writing is going to be a part of my life always. Whether it’s blogging or content writing or editing writing or maybe perhaps writing a book one day…it’ll be part of my life. And I’m grateful for that and for this outlet.
Music is wonderful, and also a big part of my life. I love to play the piano and I sing all the time…mostly when I’m alone in my car. And I’m not supremely talented by any means. But I enjoy it. I enjoy the beauty of it and appreciate the people that are supremely talented.
I complain about school a lot, but I actually am very grateful for the opportunity I have to get an education that will eventually help me in my career and future family. Sure, homework sucks. But an education is literally priceless.
YOU…AKA My Lovely Readers
You guys deserve a huge shout-out. Did you know that when I started for real blogging in February, my goal for the year was to have 20 followers. But here I am with 112 of you lovely people. Which isn’t that much compared to other bigger bloggers out there. But I sincerely appreciate every single one of you. Every comment from you makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, if you know what I mean.
These are just a few of the things that I am grateful for in my life. There are so many more. What are you grateful for? Tell me in the comments!
