Current Obsession: Criminal Minds

My latest obsessions: Criminal Minds. Seriously, I just finished the first season and I started…like a week and a half ago? Is there a way to see the date you watched an episode? I don’t know. Okay, anyways, moving on.

I remember my best friend’s parents in high school used to always be watching this show and I thought they were crazy. Who would want to get in the mind of psychopaths? Like, seriously… So I never thought the day would come when I would see it on my Netflix queue and I would click Play. But, alas, I didn’t have another show to watch (I’m waiting for new seasons to come *cough REIGN cough*), and I clicked. And I was hooked with the very first show.

If you don’t know, Criminal Minds follows the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) of the FBI. They go around the country (and even the world) profiling different criminals to catch them. They can just walk around a crime scene and be able to profile the criminal, or basically just say every detail of their lives. Just based on how they committed the crime, their habits when committing repeated crimes, etc. It’s seriously crazy. I’ll just be trying to process the crime scene, thoroughly creeped out, and then they’re like: “We have a profile.” And then they pull together all of the police or get a press release to tell people details like, “It’s probably a male ages 30-40. He doesn’t have a lot of friends and tries his hardest to blend into his surroundings. He has a day job where he works with his hands.” Stuff like that. Like very specific details. And then the bad guy almost always matches. Man…crazy.

Also it’s way creepy. The other day I watched like three episodes in a row until 1:30 in the morning (I rarely stay up that late) and I was so creeped out. I walked downstairs to get a drink of water and I was certain there would be a serial killer waiting in the darkness. Seriously, you can even consult my Twitter page if you don’t believe me:

But, yes. Creepy. The BAU gets into the head of these psychopaths and sociopaths…which is super interesting, but also just super creepy. They have these delusions that they 100% think are real or they have these “needs” that they have to satisfy.

So basically this show is awful. And by awful I mean awesome. And by awesome I mean I’m-going-to-keep-watching-this-and-hopefully-I-never-meet-a-psychopath-because-I’d-pee-my-pants-and-die.
Also I think I have a small crush on Reid even though he’s socially awkward and has weird hair (at least in the first season he does).

  • Yeah, I totally get what you mean. I enjoy watching scary movies (I don’t watch Rated R ones though cause I’d pee my pants) but most of the time I’m not that scared because they’re often so out there and unrealistic. With Criminal Minds it’s horrifying because there are people like this out there! Psychotic people with these messed up delusions. Oh man, oh man.

How far are you in the series?

And, yes, Reid. *sigh* Although he’s getting kind of messed up where I am. I need to know where you are so I don’t give anything away though lol.

  • You should watch it more! I’m almost done with the second season now and you’d think they’d run out of plot ideas but NOPE. They’re still just as creepy and psychotic as ever.
